Are you passionate about athletics, mentoring young people, and helping student-athletes reach their full potential? Santa Rosa Academy welcomes individuals who are interested in serving as a Walk-On Coach and becoming part of our athletic community in Menifee, California.

At SRA, our coaches play an important role in developing not only athletic skills, but also teamwork, discipline, leadership, respect, sportsmanship, and character. We are looking for individuals who can serve as positive role models and who are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and competitive environment where students can grow both on and off the field or court. Our athletics program includes middle school and high school opportunities, with coaching positions varying by sport and season.

What Is a Walk-On Coach?

A Walk-On Coach is an individual who brings experience, knowledge, enthusiasm, and a passion for a particular sport to the SRA athletics program. Walk-On Coaches may serve in a variety of coaching capacities depending on the needs of the program, including head coach, assistant coach, or other seasonal coaching assignments.

Successful candidates should demonstrate knowledge and experience in their sport, the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, and a commitment to the educational mission and values of Santa Rosa Academy. Coaches are expected to work collaboratively with the Athletic Director, school administration, fellow coaches, students, and families.

What We Look For:

We encourage individuals with a variety of athletic and coaching backgrounds to express their interest. Ideal candidates will:

• Have knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for the sport they wish to coach.
• Enjoy working with middle school and/or high school students.
• Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Promote teamwork, discipline, respect, integrity, and good sportsmanship.
• Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
• Support the academic and personal development of students.
• Be willing to follow Santa Rosa Academy policies, athletic procedures, and coaching expectations.
• Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director and other members of the SRA team.

Coaching opportunities are seasonal and vary by sport and program needs. Interested individuals should begin by applying for an available coaching position. We encourage you to be part of the Santa Rosa Academy Athletic team by applying on Edjoin.org. Immediate openings are available.

How to Apply:

Every applicant must have a valid email address and be registered with EdJoin to apply for a position online. If you need assistance, you can contact the EdJoin Help Desk at (800) 398-9580 or use this form. 

Applications are accepted online via Edjoin.Org. All applications must be submitted no later than application deadline. The application packet must be complete at the time of submission. We do not accept e-mailed applications.

When you have completed the online application process by the deadline, we will be happy to consider you as an applicant for coaching. Not all applicants will be interviewed. Applicants selected for an interview must meet the minimum qualifications for the coaching position, possess desired experience, knowledge, and skills, and complete all components of the application. Incomplete applications will be screened out.

Pre-employment process procedures: 

• Create a free Edjoin account if you do not already have one.
• Submit an online application through EdJoin.org.
• Attached scanned copies of required documents, which may include resume, letters of recommendation, copies of transcripts, copies of appropriate certificates, CPR/First Aide Certification.
• Submit the online application by the deadline date and time
• Paperwork is screened for completeness by the Athletic Director.
• Candidates will be notified if they are selected for an interview by email or phone.
• Interviewing process and selections will be conducted to fill our open coaching position(s).

Onboarding process and procedures: 

Selected candidates will participate in the interview and selection process. Please note that being selected for a coaching position is contingent upon completing all required pre-employment processing and obtaining the necessary clearances and approvals.

Before working with in Athletics with students, selected coaches must complete the required pre-employment requirements, which may include:

• Reference background checks
• Department of Justice/FBI clearance
• Negative Tuberculosis Test within 60 days
• Picture ID or Drivers’ License
• Social security card
• CPR/First Aid Certification
• Any license/certification required by the job description/job posting. 

Our Human Resources team will guide you through the onboarding process, including required paperwork, background-check procedures, online training, and other employment requirements. We want every new coach to feel supported and prepared from the time they are selected through their first day with our athletic program.
