Alexandra then went on to UC Santa Barbara where she would graduate with a BA in History of Public Policy & Law. While at UCSB, she served as the co-chair of Lobby Corp, mobilizing hundreds of students in advocacy & lobbying campaigns. She also worked as a Basic Needs organizer and managed to raise $20,000 for COVID relief during the start of the pandemic. It was during undergrad that Alexandra realized she always wanted to be in positions where she could support students and young people like herself.
Along with working at California Common Cause, Alexandra is also the Southern California Fellow for IGNITE National. In this role, Alexandra organizes young women across the region to be empowered and tap into their own political power.
Tammy Vavken-Hylton - Foundation Board Member through June 2025
Santa Rosa’s Foundation board is thrilled to have Tammy Vavken-Hylton as a valued member of the organization. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Science from Vanguard University in 2000 and a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the organization.
Tammy Vavken-Hylton has been happily married and is a proud parent of five children. They enjoy engaging in outdoor activities as a a family and lead an active lifestyle, fostering a sense of togetherness and bonding through shared adventures. Their family has been a dedicated foster family for the past 16 years. They have opened their hearts and home to newborns in need of care and nurturing, providing a safe and loving environment during the most critical stages of their lives.
Having spent the past 15 years managing a retail location in Southern California for a leading technology company, Tammy Vavken-Hylton has honed their skills in leadership and customer service. This experience has provided them with a deep understanding of the importance of teamwork, innovation, adaptability and staying ahead in a rapidly evolving industry.
In addition to her successful Career in the corporate sector, Tammy Vavken-Hylton has a strong commitment to community service and a desire to make a positive impact. Most recently she was a Board member for the past 5 years for The LGBTQ+ Resource Center of Riverside County. In this capacity she support the local LGBTQ youth to have safe spaces at their schools and provide training for educators to provide inclusive and accepting learning environments. This dedication led them to join the Santa Rosa Foundation Board, where they can apply their skills and expertise to benefit individuals and groups in need.
Tammy Vavken-Hylton excels at building meaningful relationships with stakeholders, community partners, and volunteers. Their ability to connect with people and collaborate effectively enables them to maximize the organization impact and create lasting change.

Terry Cole - Santa Rosa Academy School Board Representative through June 2025
Terry Cole is a retired member of the United States Navy and currently works for the Department of Veteran Affairs in Riverside, California. He has lived in Riverside County since 2010. He has been involved with the community of Menifee as a youth soccer coach and was an Assistant Little League Coach for the community of Canyon Lake. He has a 14-year-old son, who just started 9th grade at Paloma High School.
