Santa Rosa Academy is committed to providing a safe school environment where all individuals in education are afforded equal access and opportunities. Santa Rosa Academy’s academic and other educational support programs, services and activities shall be free from discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying of any individual based on the person’s actual race, color, ancestry, national origin, ethnic group identification, age, religion, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression; the perception of one or more of such characteristics; or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics. Specifically, state law prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender in enrollment, counseling, and the availability of physical education, athletic activities, and sports.

Transgender students shall be permitted to participate in gender-segregated school programs and activities (e.g., athletic teams, sports competitions, and field trips) and to use facilities consistent with their gender identity. Santa Rosa Academy assures that lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission or participation in District programs. Complaints of unlawful discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying are investigated through the Uniform Complaint Process. Such complaints must be filed no later than six months after knowledge of the alleged discrimination was first obtained. For a complaint form or additional information, contact: Sondra Evans at [email protected].
Board meeting recordings are found on BoardDocs on the school website, under the section "School Board." The governing body of an entity managing two or more charter schools not located in the same county shall audio record, video record, or both, all the governing board meetings and post the recordings on each charter school’s internet website. (Educ. Code § 47604.1(c)(4)(A).)
Charter schools are not allowed to discourage a pupil from enrolling or seeking to enroll in the charter school because the pupil exhibits any characteristics such as students with disabilities, academically low achieving, English learners, neglected or delinquent, homeless, socially economically disadvantaged, foster youth, or based on nationality, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Charter schools are not allowed to request a pupil's records before enrollment or encourage a child who is enrolled in a charter school to disenroll or transfer to another school. A parent, guardian, or pupil (18 years or older) may file a Charter School Complaint Form to the authorizing entity if they suspect the charter school is in violation of Education Code Section 47605(e)(4). ANNUAL NOTICE REGARDING PUPIL FEES AS REQUIRED BY ASSEMBLY BILL 1575 (CHAPTERED SEPTEMBER 29, 2012)

OVERVIEW: In 2012, the Governor of California signed into law Assembly Bill 1575 (“AB 1575”), which amended certain provisions of the Education Code and Government Code. One of those amendments requires schools to publish an annual notice to pupils, parents, and guardians, employees, and other interested parties regarding the requirements of AB 1575 (see Cal.Ed.Code section 49013(e)).

In compliance with Cal. Ed. Code section 49013(e), on an annual basis Santa Rosa Academy provides this notice to all required parties.

Santa Rosa Academy provides education for all students, including homeless students.   The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (McKinney-Vento Act) (42 U.S.C. § 11431-11435) is federal legislation that ensures the educational rights and protections of children and youths experiencing homelessness. It requires all local educational agencies (LEAs) to ensure that homeless students have access to the same free, appropriate public education, including public preschools, as provided to other children and youths. The McKinney-Vento Act defines LEAs as public school districts, direct-funded and locally funded charter schools, and county offices of education.

Santa Rosa Academy (SRA) is required to annually post on its website both how much Education Protection Account (EPA) funds were received and how they were spent in the prior fiscal year. Second, how much EPA is projected to be received in the current fiscal year and the spending plan for the current fiscal year.

SRA had received $4,515,372 for the 2022-2023 fiscal year which was spent on teacher salaries.

The “Resolution Regarding The Education Protection Account” was passed by the School Board on 6-14-2023, which approved that the funds be spent on teacher salaries; the projected amount in the resolution is $5,056,553.

Please contact the Superintendent if you have any questions.
